Sightseeing in the Olympic National Park
The Hoh Rain Forest is the favorite destination in the Park, as it is one of the last Rain Forests in North America.You can access it from many different trails with various difficulty levels, so you will find the right hike for you! Promise!
The Sol Duc Falls is a magical hike that offers everything: Waterfalls, canyons, bridges all in the beautiful lush forrest of Washington. It is an easy, not strenuous hike and you can take your children along. They will enjoy it as much as you will!
In the Quinault Rain Forest you can admire some of the biggest trees in the world. This forest has a large wildlife population such as black bears. But don’t worry! If you follow the safety, you can enjoy the beautiful setting without worrying about a bear attack! Many campgrounds are available and you can enjoy many outdoor activities, from hiking to fishing,or even swimming in the summer time. You are be at the right spot to admire the blue water of the Lake Quinault.
Kalaloch Beach is the best stop for coastal hikes. You can enjoy wide sandy beaches and admire the marine environment. It is also recommended as a great bird watching site, so bring your binoculars to see them up close.
Finally, Port Angeles is the most visited area of the park, but a beautiful scenic drive that you should not miss. You can hike up to Hurricane Ridge and admire the Olympic Mountains.
Camping in the Olympic National Park
The park offers 16 campgrounds, but only two are set up for RVs. Even though the campgrounds are dog friendly it is recommended to leave your best friend home since most of the hiking trails do not allow dogs. Not all campgrounds are open all year long so you should check in first before planning your trip. Be prepared for cold water, forget about taking a shower and remember Washington winters are cold!
