All year long, Seattle has tons of festivals and special events taking place each day. Thought it might not be a reason for your trip to Seattle, you might be interested in finding out what’s going on while you are in Seattle and try to include it in your trip schedule! Seattle Festivals and Events in February
The Seattle Home Show will happen from the 20th to the 28th at the Qwest Field and Event Center, Downtown Seattle. It is a great show to discover all the new products available to make your home and garden more comfortable and the new decoration trends.
Seattle Festivals and Events in March
The Seattle Woman’s Show presents an interesting series of seminars to present the latest news in various topics such as fashion, health or even finance, with seminars, work shops and other activities.
As March is popular for the St Patrick’s Day celebration, Seattle organizes the Irish Festival on the 13th and 14th of March at the Seattle Center. You can enjoy Irish music, games, and diverse exhibits to learn about the culture and even take some language courses!
Seattle Festivals and Events in April
On April 10th, for the 5th time, Seattle presents the Edible Book Festival. This Seattle festival will take place at The God Shepherd Center from 12 to 3 pm. It is a very interesting event to celebrate books and food. Participants can bring edible art, most of them usually inspired by a book theme.
Then between April 16th and 18th, the Seattle Center hosts the Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cultural Festival, a very interesting cultural event about Japanese culture. You can learn a lot about Japanese art, food, and customs, as well as the Japan/ US relationship.
Seattle Festivals and Events in May
May is a great month for kids! After celebrating mother’s day, Seattle is home of the International Children’s Festival. Between May11th and 15th, the Seattle Center becomes the ground for performing arts from all over the world, with great music, activities, dance and such to entertain you and your family, and teach you about other cultures as well.
To keep with the international state of mind, the Seattle International Film Festival follows, form May 20th to June 13th. This festival introduces the work of known as well as independent filmmakers, with screenings, workshops, and many film viewings all around town.
However, between those 2 international festivals, there is a popular street fair you should not miss, if you are n town on the weekend of the 15th: the University District StreetFair . Presenting arts and crafts as well as music, comedy, street performers and food, this event is one of the largest street fairs in the US.
Seattle Festivals and Events in June
To celebrate the arrival of the summer season, come attend the Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade on the 19th to and 20th. This fair has a long tradition in Seattle, as it has been celebrated for more than 30 years. You will find arts and crafts, music, performers, a stage with local bands, and a large parade, followed by a picnic and live music at the Gas Works Park.
Following, starting on the 26th, is the Seafair in Seattle. That event lasts until August 8th and is one of the most important Seattle traditions and one of the major festivals of the Northwest for the past 50 years! It presents a series of marathons, triathlons, parades and air shows.
Another great event that takes place the whole month of June is Summer Nights at the Pier where 20 nights of concerts are organized, with various music styles each time, from rock to jazz, and famous artists.
