Wheeler farm in Salt Lake City is a 75 acre farm that was started in 1886 by Henry Joseph Wheeler and his wife Sariah. Over the years the farm has become a place to showcase the life of people in Salt Lake County in the years gone by and the best progressive farming methods of this era.

Activities at Wheeler Farm
When at Wheeler Farm your children can take a historic house tour where they can get an insight into the 19th century style of living. Quaint homes with old fashioned furniture and farming gear, this makes for an interesting watch. The farm chores tour is one for the active ones who are not interested in only looking at the houses. Milking the cow is one of the favorites among all. And after the tiring milking process, the kids can go off on a tractor drawn wagon ride.

Spring at Wheeler Farm
The 2010 calendar looks as interesting as the year gone by. April will witness the Easter Carnival with over 50 vendors with their rides, food, crafts and more putting up stall and showcasing their wares. The Utah Old Time Fiddlers will make an appearance in May with the Jam Session and Contest and Variety Shows on 14th and 15th of May respectively. The Mayday festival too stands to be a runaway success with bounce house, mini golf, skating, face painting, field games, laser tag and other fun activities. You can also get a chance to try your hand at Sheep shearing, blacksmithing, wool spinning and other such farming tasks.
Summer at Wheeler Farm
Come June and you can join in all the fun at the Summer Camp at Wheeler Farm. The camp lasts for 11 weeks where age appropriate activities are planned for kids in the age group of 6 to 12. With an atmosphere that promotes confidence, creativity and self expression, the camp includes water activities, candle dipping, nature walks, gardening and animal visits.
Fall at Wheeler Farm
With the yellow, orange and red leaves you can witness the Wheeler Historic Farm Children’s Pumpkin Patch come alive along with the corn and hay maze. There is also a costume dance organized in October. Close to Halloween, make sure to visit the farm on a Friday to witness the Freaky Friday Specials.
Winter at Wheeler Farm
Celebrate the holidays at the Wheeler Farm with the annual festival of lights. The annual boutique fiesta is a gala feast of 50 vendors that come together to present their foods, candles, natural soap, gems and baby items. There are woodcarving classes that you can join too!
Other than these specific calendar events there is also the 18th Annual Show and Competition for wood carving and the Raw Food Potluck that is held on the 4th Tuesday of every month.
