La Puerta
La Puerta is a Mexican-inspired restaurant and bar off 4th street in the Gaslamp. It’s very casual, but always full of fun people and an exciting atmosphere. Again, they have another great happy hour if you come early. Their food is really fresh and is a great twist on traditional Mexican food. Looking for brunch on the weekend? They have $1 mimosas that will really put you in that mellow, San Diego vibe.
Vin de Syrah
Syrah is a wine bar located under the Melting Pot off 5th Avenue between E St. and Broadway. They obviously have a tremendous wine selection, but they also have great craft beers and cocktails. They serve small plates that are the perfect compliment to your beverages. You can also get bottle service and enjoy the DJ’s from a nice booth above the main floor.
The Local
If you’re looking for a casual night out, head on over to The Local off 4th at Broadway. The best description is that it’s a dive bar, but it isn’t a dive bar (i.e. it’s clean and has good food). They have a great beer selection and is the perfect spot to watch a game. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their tremendous selection.
Top of the Hyatt
At the Top of the Hyatt, there’s a great lounge that’s perfect for a date or romantic setting. The views are spectacular, and let you see the bay, Coronado Island, and the city landscape. Mostly a spot to drink, they also have small plates and desert options if you’re inclined. The Top of the Hyatt is a relaxing place with great views and low lights.
