2 Popular Vegas Brands will Be Gone in 2012

Two popular Las Vegas brands will be going away in 2012.

Cirque du Soleil - Viva Elvis

Sayonara, Viva Elvis

First up, Viva Elvis has been told to shut down by the end of 2012.

The Cirque show has played at the Aria Casino and Resort for almost two years. According to the Las Vegas Sun:

“As attendance levels have not been meeting expectations, we have asked our partners at Cirque du Soleil to replace the show,” a company statement said. “We will work closely with Cirque as we explore future entertainment options.”

Las Vegas Hilton

Las Vegas Hilton to Undergo Rebranding

The Las Vegas Hilton has been a mainstay in Vegas since 1971. But it will soon be forced to change it’s name.

The property was set to lose the franchise rights to the Hilton name on January 1st. So if they can’t come to an agreement soon with Hilton Worldwide (the owner of the Hilton name and brand), they will have to rebrand the entire hotel.

Apparently, they’re considering the placeholder name: LVH-Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. Hopefully, they’ll come up with a better name soon.

Are you sad to see either of these go away? Or is it long overdue? Let us know in the comments below!
