Don’t Miss the 4th of July in San Diego

Looking for that last minute trip for the perfect 4th of July?

Sunny San Diego might just be the perfect spot. With temperatures in the 80s this week, it’ll be a beautiful holiday weekend with perfect, clear skies.

Better yet, they have events for the kids, party animals, and the entire family.

Kid-friendly fun

Legoland in Carlsbad, is located roughly 30 miles north from Downtown, and is the perfect spot for families with young kids.

You can go during the day for the incredibly array of stuff built out of Legos, and staying for the nightime firework display starting at 8:30 p.m. They even have some picnic games throughout the day like sack races, paper airplane contests, and water-balloon tosses!

Fireworks the whole family will enjoy

In its eleventh year, the Big Bay Boom 4th of July Fireworks Show will be surrounding the beautiful San Diego Bay. This isn’t just any fireworks display… It’s over 15 minutes long, complete with choreographed music from 105.7 Walrus FM radio.

Fireworks are placed all around the Bay on the surrounding areas including the quaint Seaport Village and Coronado Ferry Landing.

If you’re planning on heading Downtown for the display, please note that traffic and parking will be tough. You should take the trolley, or commuter trains down instead!

Late night revelry

The Hard Rock Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter is the place to party.

On Saturday and Sunday, they have pool parties at Float, their rooftop lounge during the day where you can enjoy live music from Edward Maya, a signature grill menu, and a plethora of inventive cocktails.

They have a room package starting at $329 per night that include tickets to the parties. General admission tickets are available at Intervention SD.

The Best Kid Friendly Las Vegas Attraction

Nonstop gambling, topless pools, and binge drinking don’t sound very kid friendly.

Well waaaaaay back in the 90′s (remember those days?), Las Vegas was starting to turn kid-friendly. Each hotel had an arcade, Treasure Island was pirate themed throughout, water parks dotted the desert valley, and even MGM had an amusement park.

Apparently kid friendly doesn’t sell like sin.

Today, kid friendly Las Vegas activities are few and far between. However there is still one relic left over from the heyday.

The Las Vegas Adventuredome at Circus Circus

Kid Friendly Las Vegas

Way down the Strip at Circus Circus still lives the Adventuredome. Just last year in 2010, it was voted Best Family Attraction, Best Arcade and Best Place to go Under 21 by Las Vegas Review Journal.

Awards are great… but will it keep kids interested?!

Absolustely. With over 25 attractions and rides, your children will sleep like little babies at night from all the action.

Here are some of the highlights from the Adventuredome at Circus Circus.

  • The Canyon Blaster is the world’s only indoor double-loop, double-corkscrew roller coaster! And if you’re looking for speed, it also hits 55mph in between all those loops.
  • Disk’o  is a dual rocking and spinning motion ride. And it looks frightening. I would definitely get sick.
  • They have a huge theater playing SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora & Diego, and Happy Feet in 4D.
  • Rim Runer is a crazy water ride that will surely get you wet!  It’s just like being in the middle of the rapids… while being inside a huge pink dome in the middle of the desert.
  • Sligshot is a tower ride that shoots you high into the hair, only to fall back down to earth.
  • And my favorite as a kid… lazer tag. Your kids will run around like crazy banshees shooting each other with fake lazer beams. What can get better than that?
  • For the grown ups, they have classic favorites like the bumper cars and pirate ship swing for bigger kids.
  • If you have younger kids, then the Frog Hopper and Miner Mike rides will be perfect.

Of, and I forgot to mention the best part.

All day pass for just 26.95!

What are you waiting for?
