And remember to leave a comment on our post Fox Rent A Car Valentine’s Give Away and win one of three free rental cars for Valentine’s Day Weekend!

Valentine’s Day Romantic Getaways in San Francisco

Really, the most romantic weekend you can plan in Northern California would be in the Wine Country of Napa Valley or Sonoma. With wine tasting, comfortable bed and breakfasts and all the spas around, you can’t really beat that! However, you might be looking for something a bit more dynamic, and an excuse for discovering San Francisco. So we’ll keep you in the city!

To start the day successfully and impress your loved one, we suggest having breakfast at Mama’s. This Breakfast restaurant is very popular in San Francisco. More than a wonderful service, Mama’s is highly recommended for its large selection of dishes, its delicious and never disappointing food, and the originality of the menu. However, popular, means busy, so get there early, or sleep in and get there later!

Then, though a lot of people recommend visiting the Fisherman’s Wharf, as romantic as it sounds, it’s Valentine’s Day so you need something more than just what you can do anytime! The most important aspect of Valentine’s day is to share a day together. So why not rent bikes and cross the bridge to go spend the morning in Sausalito. You can walk around this really cute and picturesque city with a Mediterranean touch, enjoy the waterfront and maybe get a snack close to the water. Then take the ferry back to San Francisco.

During the afternoon, why not try something a bit out of the ordinary and stop by the Golden Gate Railroad Museum. I know what you’re thinking: that doesn’t sound romantic at all! But wait! They have a great Valentine’s Day special called Romance on the Rails, which is a wine tasting and hors d’oeuvre event. It takes place in a luxurious train car while taking you though Niles Canyon for 2 hours. You have to make reservation ahead of time.

As mentioned in our previous Valentine’s day post, French culture is one of the most romantic ones, so French cuisine seems pretty appropriate for a perfect Valentine’s Day romantic way to close the day! Chapeau is the best restaurant in San Francisco for this. Elegant, romantic, charming are the best adjectives to describe the place; delicious, fine, delicate, flavorful are the words to define the cuisine served here. What more do you need to make your date successful?

Oh ya! Of course a hotel! The most romantic location will be a hotel by the water. The Harbor Court Hotel is one of the most romantic and beautiful hotels in San Francisco, steps away from the water with a fantastic view, very comfortable and close to a lot of great sights.

Valentine’s Day Romantic Getaways in Sonoma

If you are not interested in the city sights of San Francisco, then Sonoma Wine Country is a beautiful destination for a romantic weekend. It allows you to escape the stress of your everyday life, leave behind work and obligations, and spend some one on one time with your partner for a few days. So here is what you could do during your Valentine’s Day weekend in Sonoma:

Make reservation at the Sonoma Chalet for a private cottage or a bed and breakfast package. They have the most romantic setting you can imagine: fireplace, hot tub, and amazing surroundings with breath taking views. It helps with a private setting for your romantic weekend, no one to bother you!

Sign up for a private wine tour. It lets you to go at your pace, and really enjoy a day with your loveed one, just the two of you. And really what can be more romantic than a private limousine driving you around in the wine country! You have the choice between a 4, 6 or 8 hours tours. This will  take most of your day, a successful romantic day!

Then, if you choose the shorter tour, you can visit the Spa of Montecito Heights, and take advantage of their couple relaxing treatment, while enjoying a glass of champagne. After all, this weekend is about making you and the one you love feel good and share a special moment. So make sure you do it right!

Close the day with a delicious meal in a restaurant with a romantic setting, and great service, to show again how much your partner means to you. The Girl and the Fig is one of the most exquisite restaurants in Sonoma. Make sure to make reservation before, as it is a popular destination the rest of the time.
Finally, you can finish your evening by taking fully advantage of your cottage and its amenities and the setting around you!

Have a great Valentine’s Day weekend in Northern California!

Valentine’s Day Romantic Getaways in San Diego

For Valentine’s Day weekend you are looking for something romantic. What can be more romantic than the beach? San Diego is a perfect destination to show how much someone means to you!
Imagine, first a nice breakfast with a romantic view of the ocean. San Diego has many great breakfast places and it can be hard to make a recommendation since there are all different and delicious. But for the romantic aspect of the weekend, Cody’s in La Jolla seems to be the best spot, with its amazing view of water.

As February isn’t one of the warmest day, a picnic on the beach or at the park might not be the best idea. So we would suggest enjoying the ride along the coast towards Pacific Beach and take advantage of a nice walk on the beach.
For lunch, make reservation at the Green Flash for another great meal by the ocean. Make sure to call ahead of time as it’s a popular place. As the sun comes down early, if you want to eat while enjoying the ocean, it is better to do it before 4, hence the romantic meal by the ocean during lunch!
Then you can follow by a visit in Balboa Park, stop by the fountain, maybe the Botanical Garden, and if you had a light lunch head toward Hillcrest for the most fantastic dessert place in town: Extraordinary Dessert. Is there after all a better way to tell someone you love him or her than with a delicious slice of chocolate cake!!
Finally at night, you can treat your special someone to something special and different, such as a play at the Old Globe theater or for something even more romantic, a movie at the drive-in where you can enjoy and share a special evening alone with everybody else!

One of the most beautiful and romantic hotel in San Diego is of course the famous Hotel Del Coronado with its best service, magnificent rooms and ocean views. But if you prefer something more private, and cozy, you can rent a cottage at the Crystal Pier Hotel and fall asleep with the sound of the waves.

Valentine’s Day Romantic Getaways in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a large city with great potential for an amazing Valentine’s day weekend.
First you can begin with a visit to Venice Beach, maybe pick a nice breakfast or brunch restaurant, such as Joe’s Restaurant. Then you can take a walk on the beach, as mentioned previously, this is always quite a romantic thing to do!The boardwalk in Venice offers a lot of entertainment so you can also enjoy a walk there or even rent a bike and enjoy a ride along the ocean in sunny Southern California with your special someone.
You can grab something light for lunch and enjoy some of the touristy or free attractions if you have never visited LA. It is always fun to discover a new city with someone you love and care about. But for a more romantic day, your next stop should be K chocolatier. This one of the finest chocolates you can find in the US, so stop for a sampling and maybe a special Valentine’s Day box to share later on.
This is your special weekend. So make it as relaxing and enjoyable as possible! Le Petite Retreat is a wonderful way to make sure this goes the perfect way! This spa offers couple treatments, which can be a fabulous way to celebrate Valentine’s Day while relaxing together.
For dinner, as French culture is perceived as one o f the most romantic culture of all, La Cachette Bistro seems to be a wonderful suggestion! This fine dinning restaurant serves delicious French cuisine with a Californian touch, and a special Valentine’s Day menu to steal your loved one’s heart!
Finally to finish the day with a touch of perfection, make reservation at the Shutters on the Beach hotel, one of the most romantic hotels in Los Angeles with gorgeous ocean view rooms.

Of course, adding a personal touch to your Valentine’s Day getaway is always very important to make it successful! Come enjoy the Sunny Southern California and make your love one feels more special than you make him/her feel every day!
