What is Spring Training?

Before the start of the official Baseball season, teams have to practice. Spring Training is a series of baseball games organized for teams to warm up for the season, but also for new players to audition and get noticed. This series of games attracts the attention of a lot of fans. During Spring Training you can attend games of your favorite teams for a lot cheaper than season games.
Spring Training starts mid February and ends in April, when the baseball season starts. There are 2 famous destinations for Spring Training. One is in Florida, the other is in Phoenix, and each one gathers about 15 league teams, which become the Arizona’s Cactus League versus the Florida’s Grapefruit League.

St Patrick’s Day Parades 2010

Time is passing so quickly and it is already time to get ready for March Festivities. The famous Irish celebration – St Patrick’s Day – is celebrated all over the United States the weekend before and /or after the 17th of March. So what are your plans this year? To help you figure out how to participate in the St Patrick’s Day fun, here is a list of fun St Patrick’s Day Parades for 2010.

St Patrick’s Day Parades in Las Vegas

Of course this great city so often visited for the party scene also has many parties to celebrate St Patrick’s Day. Las Vegas organizes a great parade downtown on Water Street each year. This parade is free to access. The whole town is painted green for the occasion and many parties take place everywhere.
If you are looking for something a bit more specific, and higher standards, the Mandalay Bay Casino plans each year an important event to celebrate the St Patrick’s Day festival. There are live performances, beer gardens, Irish music and a concert. This event is not a public event, so you need to buy tickets to attend.

St Patrick’s Day Parades in Los Angeles

One of the most important St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Los Angeles is the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Hermosa Beach. The festivities start at 11 am and include a large entertaining parade with lots pf dancers, music and floats! Of course every year, downtown Los Angeles organizes a St Patrick’s Day Parade with marching bands, Celtic music and a lot of people! The Annual St Patrick’s Day Festival of Costa Mesa starts at 9am and will go all day until 4pm with Irish dances, music and great entertainment. Come celebrate at Market Place.

But that’s not it, you can also follow the celebration in Balboa Park from 10 am to 5pm. This parade has 2 stages with dancing, music, food, and beer garden to celebrate the Irish culture. The St Patrick’s Day celebration in San Francisco is a 2 days event! The St Patrick’s Day Parade is on Saturday, March 13th at 11:30 am, but the fair and festival in honor of the Irish Culture lasts until Sunday with booths of arts and crafts, music, food and of course the famous beer gardens. So find the Civic Center and you will find the party!

St Patrick’s Day Parades in Seattle

You don’t have to be of Irish descend to claim St Patrick’s Day party day! Downtown Seattle is expecting you for its annual green celebration. The St Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 12:30. The festival will follow until 6pm, with booths, music, and a lot of people!

February 2010 is a great month of celebrations! Just after celebrating Valentine’s day,Mardi Gras is taking place on February 16th this year. This French celebration, based on a Catholic tradition, is a time of celebration, dressing up and eating sugary treats  before the fasting period of Lent. Even though Mardi Gras goes on for a couple of weeks, the most important day is also known as Fat Tuesday. This day is celebrated with carnivals and parades, where people get to wear masks and costumes… a European version of Halloween! So are you ready for the celebrations? Here is a list of the best Mardi Gras Events you might want to check out !

Mardi Gras Events in San Diego

There are 2 main parades on Fat Tuesday for Mardi Gras in San Diego.
- The first Mardi Gras parade takes place in Uptown San Diego, Hillcrest to be exact, from 6 to 11pm. As this neighborhood is the gay and lesbian neighborhood, the parade is each year quite colorful and fun to watch, folkloric, and always grandiose! Drag queens will be performing on the street, a DJ will attract you to the dance tent, and of course liquor is available at boothes. Make sure to buy your tickets before to save $5!

- The other parade on Fat Tuesday takes place in the Gaslamp Quarter in Downtown San Diego. This parade is bigger than the Mardi Grad parade in Hillcrest. It starts at 6 pm but last until midnight and the celebration includes 2 masquerades parades, at 7:30 and 10 pm, various stages, DJs, dancers, and of course bars and restaurants will be open to help you celebrate in the best possible ways!

Mardi Gras Parades in Las Vegas

In Las Vegas, the Fat Tuesday celebration will take place on a Saturday this year! So come on the Strip, on the 25th of February to celebrate Mardi Gras this year. It starts at 4 pm with a parade that will take over the Strip from Harrah’s casino to the Flamingo. It takes 4 hours for the Mardi Gras parade to move along with marching bands, shows and street performers.

In Phoenix, though it is not as folkloric as the first one mentioned, the celebration of Mardi Gras are attached to a cause: the Epilepsy Foundation of Arizona. The Mardi Gras Gala takes place on the 16th at the Arizona Science Center. The evening will present an auction followed by a concert and some gambling, between 6 and 10 pm. A popular way to celebrate Mardi Gras in Seattle for the past years has been a copy of the famous Brazilian Carnaval. This year it will be on the 20th on February, so come celebrate Antonio Carlos Jobim’s memory with great music and dancing all night long at the Columbia City Theater from 9 pm to 1 am.

Free Things to Do in Phoenix

Phoenix offers a lot of fun and entertaining attractions, from family activities to desert adventures you have quite a list of things to do in Phoenix to keep you busy. Free Outdoors Attractions in Phoenix

Nature is always the first thing that comes to mind when looking for free things to do. Hiking is a great way to plan a fun day without spending more than gas money to take you there. Camelback Mountain close to Phoenix has two major hiking trails – the Echo Canyon Trail and the Cholla Trail – which are not always easy, and can be quite steep. In Las Vegas you have the choice between 2 main ticket booths to find cheap tickets for shows. On the strip, Vegas Tix 4 Less and Tix4Tonight have desks where you can buy last minutes tickets for Las Vegas shows and sometimes even for half the price you would pay at the box office. Tix4tonight has quite a few locations, so you don’t really have an excuse not to take your girl on a big night out! You can find them in the Showcase Mall, the Hawaiian Marketplace (in front Polo Towers), in front of the Riviera Hotel on the North Strip, the Bills Gambling Hall and Casino, the Four Queens Hotel on Fremont Street -Downtown (it closes at 7pm) and in the Fashion Show Mall across the Wynn Hotel. Vegas Tix 4 Less offers on top of its desk inside the Showcase Mall, a sidewalk kiosk in front of the mall. Another good way to find cheap tickets for shows are the package deals offered by your hotel. Check with Casino Perks as well to find out about “2 for 1″ coupons and save even more.

Cheap Show Tickets in San Diego

The Art Tix Booth in the Horton Plaza Mall, downtown San Diego is a great place to find cheap tickets for shows, whether it is dance, theater, music, art or performance tickets. You can only by these discount tickets (usually half price) the day of the shows though. It is closed on Mondays, so make sure to check out this kiosk on Sunday if you want to see a Monday show. Note: Atlas Tickets is a great source to check out for last minute or “hard to get” tickets, but you have to pay the regular price!

Cheap Show Tickets in San Francisco

Tix Bay Area, on Union Square, offers half price tickets. You can only go to the booth the day of the show to get half price tickets, though. You can also check out online to see the tickets they offer for the day of the show, but if you do buy it online you have to pick up your ticket at the booth one hour before the show starts. This booth is only open until 6pm from Tuesday to Saturday and until 3pm on Sundays.

Ticketzoom, Oakwebworks and SongKick are the best online options to find cheap show tickets in Salt Lake City.

Cheap Show Tickets in Seattle

The best way to find cheap tickets in Seattle is through Ticket Window. You can find half price tickets for shows happening the day you visit the booth. Pay in cash and save on service fees. You can also check out the venue online.
