Best Shopping Outlets in Los Angeles

Now, what good would your trip to Los Angeles be if you did not shop around in the city? Known for shopping centers and outlets to die for, this city has the greatest collection of designer wear dresses, handbags, footwear and accessories. Planning your shopping trip might be a good idea if you want to enjoy your retail therapy to the fullest.
To make the best of the time that you have, plan your shopping sprees based on the neighborhood that you are in.

Rodeo Drive or The Golden Triangle, the place where Julia Robert’s had her own shopping spree in ‘Pretty Woman’, is home to designer stores including Tiffany’s, Chanel, Baly, Gucci, and more. However, the price tags of almost all the items in this area are likely to touch the roof. So window shopping is what you might consider here.
Robertson Blvd is where you can find modern outfits from Curve, discount outlets from Maxfield, an Industry Mac store along with a Georgio Armani Home store. Shoes from Hogan or a gift from Kitson’s is also something that you might consider while walking down this area.

At Melrose Avenue, you can check out Red Balls or Von Dutch for some good Hollywood style clothes. Aardvark and Wasteland are famous for their secondhand items. You will also be able to find all kinds of affordable stuff – lingerie at Agent Provocateur and home accessories at the Johathan Adler store.
You can find the best boutiques like Madison and Anna Sui at Sunset Plaza and accessorize with Ann Cherico’s latest knick knacks.

Somewhere between Wilshire Blvd and Hollywood Blvd, you will find La Brea, a place where you can pick up rare artifacts for your home furnishing needs at Liz’s hardware or the vintage clothing at Jet Rag.
Beverly Blvd is the place to shop for the guys. K Bond and Naked have a selection of the most exclusive men’s wear. With the craze about Chihuahuas and dressing them up, you can buy matching sweaters for yourself and your dog at Fifi and Romeo.

Third Street Promenade Santa Monica is a well known shopping walk due to the unending array of shops that include fascinating antique stores, apparel boutiques like Polka Dots & Moonbeams and home accessory outlets like Zippers.

The premium shopping malls that are worth a visit are
- LA Westside – Beverly Center Shopping Mall, Century City Shopping Center, Westside Pavilion
- Hollywood – The Grove, Hollywood & Highland
- Downtown LA – Cooper Design Space, Grand Central Market
- Long Beach – Lakewood Center, Long Beach CityPlace, Los Cerritos Center, Westminster Mall
- Disneyland area – Buena Park Downtown, Brea Mall, Cola Center, Downtown Disney

If you are looking for some great deals, you might want to visit Nordstrom Rack, the department store that can find great deals on branded shoes, clothes and accessories. You will probably scream with excitement on finding discounted prices for Lucky Brand, Ugg, Burberry and many more. The Citadel Factory Outlet can offer some of your favorite brands at a discount of up to 70 percent at times. This is obviously a place you don’t want to miss while in Los Angeles.

Some of the other areas where you can find great deals visit the Desert Hills Premium Outlets, Ontario Mills or Cabazon outlets towards the east of Los Angeles.

Valentine’s Day Romantic Getaways in San Diego

For Valentine’s Day weekend you are looking for something romantic. What can be more romantic than the beach? San Diego is a perfect destination to show how much someone means to you!
Imagine, first a nice breakfast with a romantic view of the ocean. San Diego has many great breakfast places and it can be hard to make a recommendation since there are all different and delicious. But for the romantic aspect of the weekend, Cody’s in La Jolla seems to be the best spot, with its amazing view of water.

As February isn’t one of the warmest day, a picnic on the beach or at the park might not be the best idea. So we would suggest enjoying the ride along the coast towards Pacific Beach and take advantage of a nice walk on the beach.
For lunch, make reservation at the Green Flash for another great meal by the ocean. Make sure to call ahead of time as it’s a popular place. As the sun comes down early, if you want to eat while enjoying the ocean, it is better to do it before 4, hence the romantic meal by the ocean during lunch!
Then you can follow by a visit in Balboa Park, stop by the fountain, maybe the Botanical Garden, and if you had a light lunch head toward Hillcrest for the most fantastic dessert place in town: Extraordinary Dessert. Is there after all a better way to tell someone you love him or her than with a delicious slice of chocolate cake!!
Finally at night, you can treat your special someone to something special and different, such as a play at the Old Globe theater or for something even more romantic, a movie at the drive-in where you can enjoy and share a special evening alone with everybody else!

One of the most beautiful and romantic hotel in San Diego is of course the famous Hotel Del Coronado with its best service, magnificent rooms and ocean views. But if you prefer something more private, and cozy, you can rent a cottage at the Crystal Pier Hotel and fall asleep with the sound of the waves.

Valentine’s Day Romantic Getaways in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is a large city with great potential for an amazing Valentine’s day weekend.
First you can begin with a visit to Venice Beach, maybe pick a nice breakfast or brunch restaurant, such as Joe’s Restaurant. Then you can take a walk on the beach, as mentioned previously, this is always quite a romantic thing to do!The boardwalk in Venice offers a lot of entertainment so you can also enjoy a walk there or even rent a bike and enjoy a ride along the ocean in sunny Southern California with your special someone.
You can grab something light for lunch and enjoy some of the touristy or free attractions if you have never visited LA. It is always fun to discover a new city with someone you love and care about. But for a more romantic day, your next stop should be K chocolatier. This one of the finest chocolates you can find in the US, so stop for a sampling and maybe a special Valentine’s Day box to share later on.
This is your special weekend. So make it as relaxing and enjoyable as possible! Le Petite Retreat is a wonderful way to make sure this goes the perfect way! This spa offers couple treatments, which can be a fabulous way to celebrate Valentine’s Day while relaxing together.
For dinner, as French culture is perceived as one o f the most romantic culture of all, La Cachette Bistro seems to be a wonderful suggestion! This fine dinning restaurant serves delicious French cuisine with a Californian touch, and a special Valentine’s Day menu to steal your loved one’s heart!
Finally to finish the day with a touch of perfection, make reservation at the Shutters on the Beach hotel, one of the most romantic hotels in Los Angeles with gorgeous ocean view rooms.

Of course, adding a personal touch to your Valentine’s Day getaway is always very important to make it successful! Come enjoy the Sunny Southern California and make your love one feels more special than you make him/her feel every day!

Free Things to Do in Los Angeles

If you have a tight budget but still want to travel and discover Los Angeles, not to worry! There are a lot of free things to do in Los Angeles! At Fox Rent A Car we believe it is important to inform you about ways to discover a new city without spending too much, so here is a list of great fun things to do in Los Angeles for free.

Discover Los Angeles for Free:

Take a walk down Sunset Boulevard. It is, after all, a very popular street with a name mentioned in so many movies, you can’t miss it! Reach Rodeo Drive and check out this famous shopping area where “Pretty woman” did her shopping. Then find Hollywood Boulevard and check out the hand prints in front of the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, and along the Walk of Fame with the stars along the sidewalk! You can also visit the Chinese Theater, but it is not free. While you are there, a lot of movie star impersonators  will try to get photographed with you; be aware, this isn’t free as well!
You can also hike to the Hollywood sign. Well technically not exactly to the sign, but close enough. The hills around it are accessible by car and some have small easy hiking trails to get you away from the houses and closer to the sign. You can really enjoy a great view of the city. Don’t forget to also check out Venice Beach and Olvera Street, it is free to cruise there and there is a lot of fun things to see, even if it is just for a walk by the ocean or people watching in Venice Beach or to observe a different culture on Olvera Street.

Free Popular Attractions in Los Angeles

Though you might not have the budget for the entrance to Universal Studios, you can always check out Universal City and its boutiques. It is quite a show. Then if you want a nature break, Griffith Park is also a very popular stop to make while visiting LA. At the Greek Theater they often have concerts going on. It is easy to attend the concert without buying a ticket, just park your car and walk up toward The Observatory - which by the way is another very interesting free attraction in Los Angeles. As long as you are respectful security will leave you alone. So you might not be able to see the show, but you can still take advantage of the music for free!
Another popular attraction in Los Angeles is the La Brea Tar Pits Museum, which offer free entrance every first Tuesday of the month. It is a very interesting fossil museum, where you get to learn a lot about the last Ice Age and observe a large collection of fossils. While talking museums, let’s not forget to mention the Getty Museum, which is free and always presenting incredible exhibits. The Academy of the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is another fun free things to do in Los Angeles. Its galleries will let you have a closer look at incredible art pieces, and also movie and celebrities’ outfits, and other diverse exhibits. Speaking of celebrities, there are certain TV shows tapings that you can sit in for free. Check the list of TV Shows taping open to the public to know which and when it is free to sit in the audience.

More free stuff to do in Los Angeles:

For various cultural events taking place in Los Angeles all year long, read the Eye Spy LA page. And if you want to get some fresh air you can always drive up to Big Bear and go hiking for the day, or drive to Palm Spring just to check out the area.
