How to Save on your Next Disneyland Vacation

Disneyland may well be one of the most enjoyable places for children and for adults alike. But any parent who has tried to plan this trip for his or her child will know that the enjoyment does not come cheap. Disneyland is not just another theme park that you go to. And to be fair, you would want to make the most of the trip once you have decided to visit. Here are some super duper tips on how you can save up on your next Disneyland trip.

-          Decisions – The first thing that you need to do is to make decision with regards to the number of days that you spend at Disneyland, whether you want to connect it with a beach vacation in Southern California, combine it with a road trip or visit some other Theme parks such as Universal Studios, Six Flags or Sea World. It is also important to know whether you can be flexible about the dates for travel. This can make a fair amount of difference in terms of the money that you pay for the lodging at Disneyland.

-          Plan ahead – When you promise a Disneyland trip to your children make sure that you do not promise a date before you have researched the whole thing. Visit the Disneyland website and get detailed information on theme park attractions, live shows and entertainment that is planned, restaurants and resorts and specialty shops.

-          Off season travel – not only can you avoid the high price of tickets and hotel rooms, you will also be able to stay away from the crowds if you plan to go during the off season time. Typically this theme park is flooded with tourists from mid-June to mid-August. Also long weekends like the Easter weekend, Labor Day weekend and Thanksgiving week are also crowd attracting times. On the contrary, check out some of the events planned by Disneyland like the Epcot International Food and Wine festival, ABC Super Soap Weekend, Holidays Around the World and more.

-          Accommodations – Some of the resorts in Disneyland are fairly expensive. But you can save by choosing one of the budget accommodations offered by Disneyland too. These resorts offer complimentary scheduled trips to the Disneyland theme park. If you are looking for higher savings, then you can choose a resort located outside the park. Remember that you will need to make a decision based on a fine balance between how much you spend on transportation and your hotel. If you have younger children, walking may not be an option. AAA and AARP members get special discounts and rates too.

-          Multi-Day tickets – If you choose to purchase the one-day, one-park ticket at Disneyland, the trip will end up being extremely expensive. Look for the multi-day ticket options or the ‘park-hopper’ that allows you to move between parks. Buying Disneyland tickets at the entrance gate is also expensive. Check out the deals that are available online and pick the best.

-           Eating out – Lunch rates at Disneyland are relatively lower than the ones that are charged for dinner. Make lunch your largest meal of the day. It is also a good idea to carry water bottles and snacks for the kids since these are priced higher at the food stalls. Pick up some of the free magazines specific to Disney in the theme park and you will be able to find many restaurant discount coupons too. Do not fall for the Disney Character Breakfast for autographs and photographs with characters. There are various places where the characters meet children and you can use this opportunity for photographs without the hefty price tag.

-          Set a budget for the gift shop – The souvenir shop is extremely expensive. And while you cannot expect your children not to buy anything, you should set a budget limit for each person, if you do not want to break the bank here. The attractive gifts are too alluring to resist otherwise.

Fox Car Rental presents: Fall Getaway Ideas in Southern California

Fall is one of the best times to visit any place in Southern California. This is mainly because of the fact that the months from July to October are extremely busy and therefore the prices are sky high. But the great thing is that the weather in Southern California allows you to visit places like South Lake Tahoe, San Diego, Orange County and LA even during fall. In fact, planning a trip to any of these cities in fall is more judicious than planning a vacation during peak summer.
The fall foliage colors provide some of the best visual experiences across the world. Some of the options for a fall vacation that you have are covered here.

Fall Getaway Ideas – Southern California Beaches

In the fall you will find that the exceedingly crowded beaches of Southern California have suddenly been deserted. Unless you were interested in the trip to get some ‘eye candy’ this can be a great option for you to relax and get in touch with yourself and your partner. The beaches at Santa Cruz and San Diego have great parks on the edge of the water and make for a good day.

Fall Getaway Ideas – Disneyland

When talking about vacations to Southern California, Disneyland cannot be given a miss. At the southern end of LA in Orange County this is a completely different world on its own. Located about 20 miles south of downtown LA in the city of Anaheim, the park stays open from 10am to 6pm almost every day. There are special days when it stays open till midnight in winter too. While you are here, you can also explore California Adventure, a park for the adventurous with an airborne tour of the Golden State.

Fall Getaway Ideas – Carmel Valley

Visiting Carmel Valley around Halloween is a great option because the place just comes alive in the fall months. The Carmel Valley Ranch with a soft crackling fire in the evening can prove to be a great location to spend Halloween this year.

Fall Getaway Ideas – Camping

Taking a camping trip with your partner can become an extremely adventurous and fun filled vacation. You can choose to go to the Ventura County Campgrounds or choose any of the various San Diego Camping Grounds at Mission Bay. You can also choose some in Santa Barbara or the Malibu Creek State Park too. If you want to spend some time with the pines and wildlife and foliage, check out the Big Bear Lake. Highlights of this include filmmaking, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, and quiet chateaus for relaxation.

Fall Getaway Ideas – Wine Tasting

The best wine tasting getaway that you can hope for in Southern California is the Temecula Sunny Valley. Rolling hills, vineyards and wineries and their romantic charm calls out to those looking to take a break from the humdrum of regular corporate life.

Labor Day Events in Southern California

Labor Day is a day when people across the world celebrate the efforts of workers in achieving social and economic development. The origins of the holiday lie in the labor union movement that initiated the 8 hour working day. While the concept of Labor Day exists across the world, different countries celebrate it on different days. For example, Australia celebrates it on the first Monday of October and New Zealand on the fourth Monday in October. The United States and Canada, however, celebrate Labor Day on the first Monday of September.

The first Labor Day was celebrated in 1882 in New York City. It was initially celebrated with a street parade to showcase the spirit and strength of trade and labor organizations. Later the Sunday preceding Labor Day was declared as Labor Sunday and was dedicated to furthering the knowledge about the labor movement. Over time Labor Day has become a holiday that is associated with the end of the summer season and the last weekend to use for partying and having fun before returning to school. It is typically celebrated with picnics, barbecues, fireworks, water sports and public events that are organized.
Some of the Labor Day events organized in specific cities in Southern California are mentioned below.

Labor Day Events at San Diego

The WET Labor Day Pool party is being organized at the Siren Lounge on 5th Avenue on September 4th, 2010. The party starts at 1pm in the afternoon all the way till 2am the next morning. After recuperating on the Labor Sunday you can get ready to delight in the Labor Day BBQ Lunch Cruise on Hornblower at Hornblower Cruises and Events. With complimentary beer and champagne, this is a lunch you need to have with your friends and family to welcome the best weather in Southern California.
Take a drive to this location perfect for the Labor Day and enjoy activities like cycling and boating with your family at Pedal and Paddle on the calm waters of La Jolla Shores. There is also a sidewalk sale that has been organized at Carlsbad premium Outlets. For those interested in music and concerts check out Bob Weir and Rat Dog on 4th at Humphrey’s on the Bay, Pete Yorn –Del Mar Summer Concert at the Del Mar Track and Johnny Winter at the Belly Up tavern on 4th September. Celebration continue on 6th September with AC/DC at the House of Blues.

Labor Events at Los Angeles

Join in the Labor Day parade organized by LA/Long Beach Labor Coalition and participated by Members of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and the Screen Actors Guild this Labor Day and walk from Broad and E Street south on Avalon Blvd to Banning Park in Wilmington. The parade takes place on 6th September this year and starts at 10am.
The LA County Fair starts on Labor Day and will continue for a month but the best time to catch the rides, livestock and gardening gadgets is at the beginning after which you are likely to get busy anyways. The fair is being organized at The Fairplex in Pomona.
While the KJAZZ Blues Bash was a more extensive event earlier, it has been reduced to a one day event this year. It shall be held at the Carpenter Center at California State Long Beach with a free street festival and live music outdoor. The Blues bash shall take place on the Saturday of the Labor Day weekend.
For the movie buffs there is a 5 day movie festival that will air forgotten and rare movies from the silent era. A screening of 30 films is planned in The Egyptian Blvd.

Labor Events at Orange County

Labor Day Family Picnic is being organized on Labor Sunday and Labor Day in the Richard Nixon Library & Birthplace. The place is likely to have games, chalk art, dancing and loads of good food to go with. The International Street Fair is also planned on the Labor Day weekend where you can enjoy international foods, craft, dancing and music. The fair is likely to showcase various ethnic groups and their cultures as you feed on the sumptuous food.
