Halloween Events in Phoenix

A great way to celebrate the otherwise spine-chilling festival of Halloween if you do not really fancy gory sights and blood stained apparel is to choose to get some pumpkin picking and pumpkin carvings activities. For a change you may want to try having some pumpkin picking fun with your kids this Halloween rather than attend that nightmarish club party that leaves you sleepless for night later. Here are some options that you have in Phoenix for a great pumpkin Halloween.

Halloween Events in Phoenix Papago Park

A great pumpkin patch where all children under the age of 12 get to pick their own free pumpkin during festival time. Huge hay bales and mazes adorn the area as do barn animals and petting places. The best place to visit this park is between October 21 and October 24, this year.

Halloween Events in Phoenix MacDonald’s Ranch Pumpkin Patch

While this pumpkin patch has its share of the regular petting animals, hay mazes and pumpkins, it also has sack racing, gem mining and horseshoe pits. Children can get on to a pony or a horse and go around picking the pumpkin that they want. If your children are fond of eating what mum cooks up, you can bring in your own picnic basket or packed lunch.

Halloween Events in Phoenix Schnepf Farms Pumpkin and Chili Party

For more than just a animal farm with hay rides and mazes and petting, choose Schnepf Farms that will have your children begging for more after a ride. Check out the carousel rides, Hillbilly Bob’s Pig Races, Witch Mountain giant slide, Rock climbing wall and bonfires and marshmallow roasting.

Halloween Events in Phoenix Tolmachoff Farms

A farm that spans 6 acre, the place is full of family corn maze. This Halloween there is a scarecrow theme that you will need to carry out the hunt in the haunted corn maze.

Halloween Events in Phoenix Great Arizona Puppet Theater

Once you have had enough of the pumpkin patch you can move towards the puppet show in the evening. The puppet show is titled ‘Little Bunny’s Halloween’ and is most appropriate for children in the age group between 2 and 10 years. A good show to take your children to so that they can learn more about the significance of Halloween and also the various activities that are conducted during this time of year.

Halloween Events in Phoenix Boo at the Zoo

The zoo in Phoenix organizes an event just for the kids. There are games, educational instructions about recycling and being ‘green’, albeit with the help of a worm bin. Some special Halloween exhibits include eerie spiders, screechy owls and slithery snakes. Expect this event to take place on the last weekend before Halloween every year.

Some of the other pumpkin patch options that you have include Brooke’s Pumpkin Patch at Mother Nature’s Farm, Tolmachoff Farms, Agua Linda Farm, Apple Annie’s Produce & Pumpkins and Freeman Farms Pumpkin Festival. So if you want a clean and less horrifying Halloween, this is your best bet. If your children insist on something nerve chilling, make sure that you choose a haunted house or park that is age appropriate.

We really hope you enjoyed our Halloween Events 2010 Series! If you missed one of our posts, find them here:

Here are some Labor Day events that have been organized in Seattle, Salt Lake City and Phoenix. Pick the one that you like most, drive down and make the most of this opportunity that the Labor Day offers you.

Free Summer Fun in Phoenix

Summer can be a lot of fun in Phoenix. But when the kids want to go out to the amusement park every day, it can get too expensive for comfort with the paid rides. And if you have driven down to the city to enjoy a holiday in Phoenix, demands such as this can send your vacation budget for a toss. Check out some activities for yourself and the kids that you can do for free in Phoenix.

Free Summer Fun in Phoenix: Cerreta Candy Co

This child friendly candy company, located at 5345 W. Glendale Avenue in Glendale organizes free tours, Monday through Friday at 10am and at 1pm. If you want to make sure that you are chosen to create a treat, you will need to choose a paid tour.

Free Summer Fun in Phoenix: Mall Activity

Malls are a great place to visit in Phoenix when you want to spend some time window shopping. The Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale and the Metrocenter between Dunlap and Peoria and the Desert Sky Mall offer a variety of things that you can do. This is one activity that kids and adults enjoy together. But don’t push your luck with a mall too many times since children do tend to get bored after a couple of visits.

Free Summer Fun in Phoenix: Splash Pads

Summer in Phoenix is best spent cooling off near splash pads. Look for the best ones in parks like the Westgate City Center, the Glendale Aquatic Playground, the Rio Vista Splash Park or the Trailside Park Splash Pad.

Free Summer Fun in Phoenix: Summer Activities at the Library

You can be sure that each of the libraries has organized some special activities for the summer. These events include summer reading programs, movies festivals and events and kid shows too. Check out libraries like the Avondale library, the Buckeye library, the Goodyear library, the Phoenix Public library, the Glendale library and you are sure to find something that interests you.

Free Summer Fun in Phoenix: Museum Movie Shows

The Tempe History Museum organizes movie shows during summer. And don’t worry, neither are the movies are not boring nor are they always about historical facts that your teacher could not stuff into your head. Some of the greatest and most interesting movies are screened here at times.

Free Summer Fun in Phoenix: Arts Workshop

The Vision Gallery organizes art classes for kids who want to unleash their creativity. Children between the ages 6 and 14 are allowed to join in and work with mud sculptures, sand paintings and more. While the classes are free, prior registration for these is required.

Fox Rent A Car Presents: 5 Fun Places for Kids in Phoenix

When the weather starts to get cooler, taking a trip to a place like Phoenix in Arizona can prove to be a great idea. And Phoenix has a lot to offer to anyone who comes from outside for a visit. But if you are traveling with children, nieces and nephews or grandchildren, you must make a note of the special places for children to see in Phoenix. Fox Rent A Car knows which places have a typical Arizona flavor that all children love.

Fun for kids in Phoenix: Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium

While the Phoenix Zoo is something that most tourist guides will tell you about, the other zoo on the west side of town in Litchfield Park is a different experience in itself. The Wildlife World Zoo houses some of the most exotic animals and sea life that you can expect to see. Most of the animals are sourced from the jungles of Africa and you can expect to see wild cats, monkeys, zebras, antelopes, tigers and striking birds.

You can get the map of the large expanse of the zoo at the entrance and it is advised that you wear your most comfortable footwear since all paths are not paved. Some of the highlights of this special zoo include feeding the giraffes and watching the Wildlife Encounter Show in which you can see animal handlers work with reptiles, birds and other dangerous animals too. The experience is extremely interactive and educational. There is a special petting enclosure that contains harmless animals like rabbits and baby antelopes. And the aquariums – The Diversity of Life in Water, The Wild and The Wonderful, and Predators – will have you feeling bewitched as you witness more than 150 aquatic species. You can also take a walk in the African Aviary if you have a fascination for birds.

Fun for kids in Phoenix: Arizona Science Center

After a day of fun at the exotic zoo, you can plan to take your children to a 40,000 square feet gallery of exhibits. Within the walls you shall find the Irene P. Flinn Theater, the Dorrance Planetarium, various classrooms, a souvenir shop, and of course, a cafeteria. The exhibits are interactive in nature and among other things your kids can enjoy planning the layout of a house, movement, biotechnologies and more. Make a stop at the Amateur Radio Station to check out how the transmission is made and become a radio jockey for a few minutes. In addition to the exhibits there are always special screenings and shows and classroom sessions that are organized regularly. The ‘Robots’ and ‘Wired for Thought’ shows have always been a hit!

Fun for kids in Phoenix: Enchanted Island

The Enchanted Island Amusement Park is probably the best option for you if you have children that are too young to take part in regular rides. Even as you enter the amusement park, the ducks and the geese will have your children delighted. Some of the rides that are available here include the Red Barron Airplane ride, the Mimi Enterprise spaceship ride, the bumper boats, the Encanto Carousel and the Dragon Wagon roller coaster. Get ready to hear cackles of laughter as the young ones enjoy rides and want to go on them again and again and yet again! Some games are organized in specific months. And so while you will be able to participate in the Easter Egg Hunt in March or April, there are other snow games that are organized during Christmas too.

Fun for kids in Phoenix: Castles ‘n’ Coasters

Located near the Metrocenter Mallin Phoenix, you can enjoy rides, arcade games and golf in the same location. It has 4 miniature golf courses complete with perfect landscaping. Water fun includes bumper boats in the lagoon and the go karting at Naskarts is a favorite among many as are the Splashdown Falls. Rides include the Sky Diver, the Desert Storm, the Patriot roller coaster, the Sea Dragon and the Free Fall. Younger kids can enjoy the pretty carousel.

Fun for kids in Phoenix: Children’s Museum of Phoenix

The Children’s Museum at Phoenix is not a place where your children can only stare at the exhibits. Here they can climb, hold, build, read, design and explore to their heart’s content. While this museum was built in 1913, it was in 1998 that the concept of exploratory earning was taken from school to school before including it in the museum.

The three floors of the museum have a different allure. The Grand Ballroom has mazes, convoluted looking learning games and more. The Market gives the children an experience of a shopping mall, complete with checkout clerks and inventory handling. There is even a small library called The Book Loft. This is the place where you can get your two year old out of the stroller so that he can run around and explore.

Now we want to hear your opinion again – what Phoenix places do you like to take your kids to?
