Labor Day Events at Seattle

While Bumbershoot remains the most attractive option in the Emerald City, there are other options that you can explore as well. Bumbershoot is a nationally acclaimed arts and music festival and this year includes Weezer, the English Beat, Bob Dylan and more. Organized at the Seattle Center, the spread of talent at 30 outdoor and indoor venues can be yours to see at an affordable price.

Labor Day Events at Salt Lake City

The Heritage Fair is being organized to celebrate the end of summer with special games a few days before Labor Day weekend. You can also commemorate the end of summer and summer vacations by joining is a short ranger program for biking, hiking, camping, horseback riding, wildlife viewing and more in any of the state parks in Salt lake City.

Labor Day Events at Phoenix

Salt River Tubing on the Lower Salt River is a customary part of Labor Day celebrations in Phoenix. Activities like beach ball, music, local radio, contests and games are involved with drives to keep the river area clean and litter free. There is the Litchfield Park Lights Up that has been rescheduled for Labor Day this year as the monsoon storm spoilt the fun on Fourth of July. Firework display, great food and dancing can be expected at this venue.
The annual Phoenix Fear Film Festival is slated to be held on Labor Day Saturday and this year there shall be a screening of horror movies through the day. There is also the annual Phoenix Cooks event where over thirty top Phoenix chefs will showcase their skills along with cooking demonstrations and tasting sessions. After Hours: The Joint is Jumpin’

The Northwest African American Museum proudly welcomes guests on September 1^st for its new exhibition about the jazz scene between 1930 and 1960. Photographs, artifacts, and a variety of interactive elements present how jazz has developed over the time in various cities in the Pacific Northwest.

In the Spirit: Contemporary Northwest Native Arts Exhibit

Through September 19^th the Washington State History Museum presents local arts. Artists, who live and work in the Pacific Northwest, get their works exhibited. Contemporary arts, paintings, sculptures, jewelry, masks and much more will show you, which art makes the region as a source of creativity.

Free Fly Days at Flying Heritage Collection

On September 11 and September 25 on Paine Field in Everett, WA, just north of Seattle, you can be part of the annual flights of old aircrafts that need to get maintained and moved regularly. On September 11 be part of American Fighter Day with the P-47 Thunderbolt and P-51 Mustang, or the Luftwaffe Day on September 25^th with Fieseler Storch and the Bf 109. These events are free!

How to Reach Alki Beach

Alki Beach is located southwest of downtown Seattle facing the Elliot Bay. You can reach it either via car over the West Seattle Bridge, there is free on-street parking available. You may however experience some delays in finding a spot when weather is nice. Another option is the water taxi, which leaves between Pier 55 and Pier 56. Each way it costs you 2 dollars and you can catch the free DART shuttle which takes you to Alki Beach.

Things to do on Alki Beach

Alki Beach will get you through your day. Whether you are active and love sports, or just want to chill ad relax, whether you come on your own or with family & dogs, there are plenty of things to do on Alki Beach. You can go jogging, hiking, biking, or roller skating. What do you think about taking a walk on the beach, enjoying the water and a picturesque view of Seattle’s skyline? If you like to be here with your friends, you can have bonfires in the fire pits available on the beach, have a BBQ or play beach volleyball – you must bring your own net though. You can also lay down on the grass or the sandy beach and get your summer tan. If you want to get into the water (be careful, it only has about 56°F in the summer!), try some paddle surfing. No matter what you do, at some point you will get hungry and its time to hit one of the countless bars and restaurants close by to get some fish & chips. Take them To Go and eat it while watching a beautiful Seattle sunset. You will be amazed how fast a day on Alki Beach can go by! The next time you visit Alki Beach, stop by at the Alki Point Lighthouse or the Log House Museum. The lighthouse has no admission, the Log House Museum only asks for a voluntary donation. Both places will tell you a lot about the history of Alki beach ad the Denny party, the first white settlers who arrived in Seattle in 1851. The museum will also tell you about the Duwamish people, the Native Americans who used to live here before Alki Beach got discovered. For this event, you should also check the obelisk as well as a Statue of Liberty replica which reminds all visitors that Alki used to get called New York-Alki.

Golfing in Seattle: Interbay Golf Center

Not a fancy golf course, but a place to go to just to have fun, to practice your techniques and to see how you do! Interbay Golf Center offers 80 covered stalls and even 40 heated stalls, so you can even go there when it rains, at night time or when its too chilly too be on the golf course. A bucket of balls is quite affordable and if you go there before 9am, they will even double the number of balls in the bucket. A real penny saver and a great place to spend your time at!

Golfing in Seattle: Greenlake Golf Course

This is the place to go to if you are a beginner or just don’t like annual memberships. Greenlake golf course offers affordable golfing fun, it is great for family trips or a good place to hag out with your friends. If you can, go in the morning hours to avoid long waiting times. The holes at Greenlake Golf Course range from 65 to 105 yards, so quite some room to practice.

This course is good for those of you who are already experienced golfers. Those of you who will spend their Memorial Day in Seattle, you have a couple of options you can choose from. The biggest event this year will be the The 39th Annual Northwest Folklife Festival at Seattle Center. From dancing and music, visual arts, folklore, workshops, craft demonstrations and films, this festival expects about 250,000 visitors in four days. Tickets are free! Why not enjoy the crowd for a while, and then get away from it all and remember how lovely Mother Earth is! Hop into your car and visit the Snoqualmie Falls. The 270 foot waterfall attracts more than 1.5 million visitors each year. Get some fresh air, take advantage of hiking trails and eventually get the obligatory souvenir. Memorial Day Events in Phoenix, AZ

This year, Memorial Day in Phoenix offers a variety of events you can chose from. For the more patriotic readers, how about a visit of the Red, White and Blue event? The Phoenix Symphony will play patriotic songs at the Symphony Hall on May 29th. Also at the Symphony Hall, you can listen to the Patriotic Pops, both on May 28th and May 29th. On May 31st you can go to the Avondale Civic Center for the Memorial Day Ceremony, starting at 7 pm. You prefer having a weekend with action and fun? How about a visit at Castles ~n~ Coasters with the family? Or you head over to Mesa, AZ to go to Golfland. There are water slides, mini golf, a raceway and so much more to do! On another note – Phoenix Comicon is taking place on Memorial Day weekend! Phoenix, you will be very busy this Memorial Day weekend.

Memorial Day Events in Las Vegas

Besides the hundreds of thousands of tourists streaming to Las Vegas for their Memorial Day weekend trip, there is actually something more to do and see than the obligatory casinos, hotels, pools and clubs. How about visiting Lake Mead or Lake Mohave? Being out on Lake Mead with the beautiful scenery of the Hoover dam, which you can also stop by at and take one of the Hoover Dam tours offered about this amazing construction. Memorial Day in Salt Lake City, UT

Spending Memorial Day Weekend in Salt Lake City? Your weekend will not stand behind Phoenix or Las Vegas at all. You are probably already preparing for the State Capitol Half Marathon, taking place on May 31st at 7am.
